I'm going to the Indy GP this weekend and my co-F1 fanatic is a vegetarian. Last year we ate at a chilli joint in downtown, which was perfectly acceptable, but it would be nice to go somewhere a little more exotic. Or at least something with a few more options for my non-meat eating friend. He eats dairy, but no fish, poultry, etc. Loves spicy food. The other caveat is that we will be dressed for the race track, so it can't be anywhere that needs us to look particularly well groomed. We'll have a car, so we can go anywhere in the general vicinity of Indianapolis.

Personally I would love to stop at one of the soul food or down-home farm cooking places that I've seen posts about here, but they probably would have bubkes for my friend. If I could only convince him that "chicken fried steak" was another form of tofu!

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone else will be there for the GP, let me know!

    Liz,
I would advise your so-called friend to start eating meat. And to cut off that long hippie mop of his. Then you may begin to enjoy the culinary goldmine that is Indianapolis.

He almost ate meat on the way to Montreal...I had a lamb burger at a place in Toronto called C'est What (dumb name, cool place) that was seriously the best burger I have EVER EATEN and he said he was actually tempted to have a bite. I told him that if did he would have to call you regardless of the time and tell you all about it. But drat! he abstained.
