Hello all...I have an upcoming road trip to a town a wee bit west of Oshkosh and was wondering if anyone had any solid recommendations on, say, US 41 up that-a-way...any input wildly appreciated. Thanks!

Ardy & Ed's Drive-In is an authentic 50's drive-in offering Vienna Beef hot dogs, burgers, and basket lunches served by car hops on roller skates. They close for the season October 1st. For an off-the-beaten-path, "out of mall" experience, visit M Schettl Sales.

We had a pleasant surprise this past weekend in Oshkosh. We stopped by a classic Wisconsin Bar just south of Oshkosh. Parnell Place has won the award for Best Friday Fish Fry in Oshkosh from the Fox Cities Magazine. The attraction on Sundays is their fried chicken dinner special - 4 pieces for $4,50, 3 pieces - $3.75, and 2 pieces for $3.25. My son and wife had the chicken dinners. The sides were uninspired...red potatoes or roasted potatoes, but the chicken was great. I had the medium pan-fried perch(7 oz) for 9.95. It was very enjoyable. The total with two cans of pop was $22. It is worth the detour.

Well CSD beat me to the rec for Ardy and Ed, but we also had a wonderful dinner in Oshkosh at Vitale's Italian restaurant.
It also has the benefit of being right next door to Leon's custard, a wonder old neon-type custard stand.
