The bad news: we are on a very tight budget and will need to feed four people on a food stipend intended to feed two. My searches for the area, including the Gaylord Resort where we will be staying, bring up mostly high end restaurants. Are there any inexpensive and/or ethnic restaurants in the area? Falafel? Ethiopian? Two strikes against us.. we won't have a car and one person has a gluten sensitivity.

I know the Gaylord Resort will shuttle you for free to Old Town Alexandria, which is a Metro stop.
But no, there's nothing economical in the immediate area. Think of National Harbor as "Downtown Disney for Lobbyists" and it all makes sense.What is patriotism, but the love of good things we ate in our childhood?
