Tamale Wagon History - LA Times

Here is a link to a terrific article on the history of Tamale Wagons in LA by Gustavo Arellano (LA Times. September 8, 2011). Arellano is the author of the upcoming "Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America." I can't wait to read that, but in the meantime, I'm going to browse through his column Ask a Mexican in the Orange County Times. It appears that Arellano is the Mexican-American Cecil Adams, answering such food-related questions as "What is the third leche in pastel de tres leches?" and "Who Harvested Maize First: the Aztecs or the Mayans?" He also answers other questions related to Mexican culture.
