For the flatlanders driving up to Green Bay to see the packers beat the Bears
I thought I would post my favorite butcher shop/sausage place:
http://www.miesfelds.com/I live just north of Milwaukee, but often drive here for my meats and brats (otherwise, usually
http://www.bunzels.com/ or Grash's)
Very good quality and great array of brats.
Old Wisconsin has an outlet in the area (Sheboygan), but they just had a major price increase on everything and are not worth the stop anymore. It used to be worth my while to drive the 30 miles to them when stocking up, but no longer. Now Klemets on Milwaukee's south side and, of course, Usinger's.
Also - I just went in here today for the first time as I had a business trip to Manitowoc.
Newton Meats:
http://www.newtonmeatsinc.com/Smaller store but they excel in service and personality. I had a ball and was laughing thanks to the two women who were working there. They also had some more unusual flavors of brats (pumpkin, etc) and some interesting burger patty combinations (I picked up some bacon and cheese patties). Also the best head cheese in the state, IMHO.
I really should not mention Hennings Cheese in Kiel - I should keep it more of a secret, but considering how many out of state plates I see there, it is known. It is worth the slight detour to go there for excellent cheese. They had a sign out today that read "Our Colby - Best in the world 2012". Also - the Pine River Dairy store outside of Manitowoc.
http://www.pineriverdairy.com/Not the cheapest, but a great selection. There are a few other cheese places on the way up I-43 but these two are the best IMHO.
