Living in the culinary wasteland that is Midwood Brooklyn, finding a good restaurant usually means trekking to Park Slope, Williamsburg or one of the other more trendy neighborhoods. That's why we were thrilled to find the Ox Cart Tavern in nearby Ditmas Park. Owner David Pitula, Naperville-raised and CIA trained, is a wickedly talented chef with a penchant for tavern food. This summer, he entered the Brooklyn Grand Slam BBQ Battle and took 2 first prizes, one for his pork ribs and the other for his BBQ Veggie Bao. He doesn't ordinarily serve his smoked BBQ items at the tavern, so I was excited to receive this flyer about an event he's holding at the tavern next Monday night, Aug. 27.
If you're willing to jump on the B or the Q, you'll be rewarded with some pretty terrific BBQ.
