Well, so far I'm 0 for 2 in Pittsburgh in places I'd go back to. 1902 Landmark Tavern on the Market Square didn't turn out to be so great.

Our waitress was just shy of surly, although she did serve us well. I figure it's just a bad day for her, but she didn't even come close to smiling once. Nothing hostile, just unhappy.

Food was OK. The salad with blue cheese dressing was quite good, nice dressing, garbanzos, grape tomatos... not bad. Stuffed mushrooms (with crabmeat) completely unimpressive, and not hot enough.

Linguini bolognese had overcooked pasta, and a nothing-special sauce. Good but not great.

My companions just had appetizers -- the 'shrooms, quesadillas (nothing special), Italian Wedding Soup (not warm enough) and a shrimp cocktail -- and desert. The deserts were better: cheesecakes in a chocolate, key lime and bananas foster. Don't know if they were locally made.

I'm hoping for better tomorrow. Gale's Pittsburgh guide included a recommendation for a Cambodian place, that sounds promising.
