Their "Peking Noodles" was tasty. The waitress tried to talk me out of ordering it, claiming that the dish was not visually aesthetic... but I persuaded her that, for me, taste trumps looks. All the noodle dishes use "ho-made" noodles...or so they say. It certainly tasted that way. Anyone have anything to report about this Chinese Restaurant on South 108th in Hales Corner?

That looks like Korean-Chinese dish jjajangmyun, noodles in a black bean sauce. Looking at their menu, I see none of the other familiar korean-Chinese dishes, like champong or tangsuyook. Is there a secret menu there?

Here is the back story: On another site a reviewer of the Confucius House said of this dish: "The za Jiang mian noodles floored me". And that was only the beginning of his praise...he went on on on about how he had never had a better version of the dish anywhere in the world. So how could I not try it?

At the Confucius House, the dish is called "Peking Noodles." It is indeed a black bean sauce- based concoction. Call it what you will...it was tastier than a viola solo! (and that is high praise indeed!)

There doesn't appear to be a "secret menu"...at least if there was one, it was so secret that I didn't see it.

I will return to this slightly camp eatery soon and report back to this congenial list.
