Went to Fergy's again for a burger. I'm sure it was the same beef, but the med rare cook was on it's way to being well done. I'm finding that the food can really vary from day to day at a lot of places. That's how it goes though.

The family and I hit Wedron office the other day too. My wife got the steak special and it was really good. I had to try the bluegill platter. It was good...fry could have been a bit longer...but good. It makes me want to go bluegill fishing! The bluegill fillets weren't as fresh as if you caught your own that morning...but they were pretty good and it was nice that they had the flavor of bluegill.

Always cool to run into a few - new to me - places out here after 10 years of living -

I rarely get over to Oglesby - about 30 mins away - but I can see spending some more time over there - the land of the ice cold $1 drafts it turns out -

First joint we went to in error - Lizzys Lounge, thought it was a place called MJ's but we were a few doors off. Dive bar - but still cool - - they had one of the most ice cold glasses of beer I have had - so good we popped back in for another a little later - Cool spot for a drink.

We walked s few doors down to MJ's Pub - the spot I was looking for - they do a burger called a Big Jac - you guessed right, their version of a Big Mac - didnt try one as I was just scouting but I will be back - Another spot serving $1 drafts on a Saturday night - might roll in Saturday for some NFL playoffs and one of those Big Jac's

The Marine Corps League Kitchen recently became aware of this place - Yelpers havent found it yet, but I have been following them on Facebook - only open Weds, Friday and Saturday to the public/ Tacos and full menu on Weds. everything but the tacos Friday & Sat. - Chicken looked and smelled legit -

cool place with friendly folks, so much fun we had to stop back in for another round before we headed back east. This place is probably at the top of my list for places to eat right now, maybe this upcoming weekend for some walleye and bird.

Another one I dont think I have mentioned here is the Valley Bar & Grill - started going there a few months ago after I read they serve deep fried tacos all day, every day - and a pretty good version as well - Also a bad ass 1-2 punch when paired with an item off of Rip's( a stones throw away in Ladd,. IL)- Saturday lunch menu(tenderloin, deep fried burgers, wings) - and what I consider to be the best chicken tenders and mustard dipping sauce around.-

    --------------------------------------
I did head back in for supper, but it was this past Saturday with the Fam. around 5pm - no tv's on, the LP High School basketball game on the radio - Cash only - $1 drafts

Foodwise - Really enjoyed the fried chicken -
    Image

did Family style mixed bird - (means it comes with ravs(tortellini) and spaghetti in a bowl) - LaSalle County grubbin' at its finest -

How good was the bird? Ill say top 5 in the county according to the Fried Chicken Chief - not quite to the level of Rips' or Sip-n- Snack, but above Wedron Office, Lofty company for sure.

Also did up some pork chops - they said they deep fried em' - I was in -

    Image

Close choice between the chops, some walleye, or the tenderloins I was hearing being pounded out in the kitchen - guessing you can go wrong with any - Pretty sure we got out of there for about $21 for the food(+tip), and maybe another $8 at the bar. - gotta love it -

Pretty sure Ill be finding my way back here.

Also heard of a place doing deep fried tacos in Ottawa, not at a bar so it might take me a while to check them out.
