The wife and I hit the Davenport Harris location on Locust yesterday. This is maybe the fourth or fifth Quad Cities pizza we've had (not counting Roots in Chicago, but, to be honest, it really didn't remind me of the pizzas I've had in the Quad Cities. Maybe I need to go back to Roots and see if it's my memory that's faulty.)
I love the crust on these pizzas. Crispy, yet chewy at the same time. Slightly malty. Not very thin, but not exactly thick, either. Got a nice texture and flavor, overall. I have to say, though, I'm not a huge fan of the type of sausage used on the Harris pizza. And, wow, that pizza had about three times the amount of cheese that was necessary (and I thought some Chicago-style thin crusts had a lot of cheese.) Still, a fine pizza, and every time I drive through the Quad Cities, I have to try out a new place. So far, Harris is my favorite, just not their sausage.
