Stopped briefly on a cold, windy and wet afternoon on a drive that took us through Columbus. Not too much I can add here.

Perhaps just that the gallery next door provided shelter, table and chairs.

(there's a bit of slightly chewy (in a good way) octopus in the soft, oozy filling inside that crisp outer shell)

The kids too really enjoyed this.

No okonomiyaki (wishing they still had that) - but crepes instead. Crisp and flaky on the outside. We had the gochujang pork belly version (2x). Will have to try the other ones on some other trip.

They've only been open five months and haven't operated through winter - so hopefully they will get enough business to make it worth their while to stay open.
I truly hope they make it. It would be a pity to be in the Columbus area and not go there.

Last October fRESHSTREET wrote:Hi everyone! We will be adding yakitori to the menu this winter.

Freshstreet, originally a food cart, then a parking lot shack, has transformed itself again. Misako and Kenny are preparing a new selection of terrific Japanese food in the kitchen of Double Happiness, a hip bar in the Brewery District. Here's Misako fanning her bincho grill with one hand while plating food with the other. It was a busy night.

Freshstreet Yakitori, as the name suggests, specializes in grilled skewers but also offers onigiri (rice balls) as well as some fried items. The menu varies according to what ingredients are available and what they feel like making. I believe Freshstreet also serves a different (non-yakitori) menu at lunchtime. We only had room to try a few items from the yakitori menu: edamame, okonomiyaki-dressed fries and a few skewers—chicken heart (pig heart wasn't available!), pork belly and chicken thigh. Everything was very tasty and I can't wait to return with more of an appetite. Freshstreet is one of the essential stops in Columbus.
