I finally got to Joe's Pizza in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. Joe's and John's (another Greenwich Village spot) are constantly mentioned as two of the best pizza places in the city.

I liked the pizza at Joe's a lot, but it seemed that there was something missing from it. Perhaps it was the fact that the crust wasn't slightly burned (which i love) or maybe there wasn't quite enough zing to the sauce. Whatever the case, it was good, but not the best I've had in New York by any means. Grimaldi's in Brooklyn is definitely better, IMHO.

Grimaldis is definitely better, but Joe's is very good IMO also. It was the perfect quick lunch 1x a week.. man I miss living in NYC.. I don't know if its still around, but Giorgio's in Union Square was our favorite.

Joe's was indeed really good, but my expectations were WAY too high for it.

When I went to Pepe's in New Haven this past summer, my expectations were also really high, but the pizza lived up to my expectations.

Yes, Giorgio's is still in Union Square. I haven't tried it, though. So many places to hit in that city! :D
