Commander's Palace Vegas closing

Haven't seen it here, and I know I've seen a lot of Vegas chat around here....

Commander's Palace in Vegas is apparently closing on Jan. 16th. No notice on their site, but the aren't taking reservations after the 16th, and this has been confirmed from the staff (and by the King of Vegas gossip... Norm!).

The story I have head is that their lease was not renewed, and while they've been in talks to move to another property on the strip, talks have stalled and they don't have an immediate home to move to.

Even if they won't be there for my upcoming trip in March, here is to hoping that they'll have a home for the next trip....

My one and only experience at the Vegas Commander's Palace fell far far far far far far far short of the New Orleans original. It would be no great loss if it closed forever.

Hmm that's a bummer. I've never been to the New Orlean's establishment so I have no basis for comparison, but the last time I was in Vegas I had an amazing Jazz brunch at the Commander's Palace. I was looking forward to doing it again the next time I was in town. Guess I'll have to look for tix for this weekend?

Just got back from LV yesterday, but saw this in Norm Clarke's Monday column:

"There's good news regarding the Jan. 16 closure of Commander's Palace at the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood. Look for an announcement soon that it will be opening at a new location."

Dined there last January for wife's b-day, and found it almost equal in food & service, not quite in ambience to the New Orleans store (last time there was '95).
