    Name: Hollywood Farmers' Market

    Day: Sunday

    Hours: 8am-1pm

Location: Ivar & Selma Avenues (b/w Hollywood & Sunset)

    City: Hollywood, CA 90028

"The Hollywood Farmers' Market is a "certified" open-air street market with approximately 90 farmers, 30 local artisans, and 30 baked goods and prepared food vendors who sell their own products every Sunday. It is a direct-to-consumer marketplace with all produce and products from local, California vendors and growers..." [More]

Erik, you've made this market look considerably better than I have found it on a few visits. Not a terrible market by any means, but somewhat disappointing considering the 'hood. Especially the prepared food vendors, which seem generic, like the ones at NYC fests and markets, as documented elsewhere.

It doesn't begin to compare with the Santa Monica Farmers' Market, but it certainly isn't a slouch.

Oh, and speaking of prepared food vendors, I forgot to mention the dudes selling raw milk...

I almost mentioned that it paled in comparison to SM... I really wish that they were switched, since I'm usually nearer the Hollywood market and not up for the outdoor mall that is SM.

I've never been to the SM Farmer's Market, although I hear it's good 8) .

I have visited the Hollywood market. At least on my visit, I found it very worthwhile. I do not remember it being exclusively organic at the time, but I remember plenty of organic. Especially good, in late December were Waxa-atachie (ph) apples and local strawberries--it bugged the hell outta me, the Midwesterner, that California could have such delicious apples. Who knew! Also good, pupususas; there were about (at least) five food vendors that looked worthwhile.

I've mentioned this before, but the Hollywood Farmer's Market is very close to a branch of Roscoe's. A Sunday morning starting with chicken and waffles and then on to that market would be well up there in ideal days for me.

Great pics too. (Thanks for noting that in the title too.)

If it were still my habit to roll L.A. with an ounce in my lap, I might be inclined to agree with you. As it stands, I visited the Gower location the other day, and the truth is that, in the balanced and measured light of sobriety, Roscoe's is nothing to get excited about.
