Beverator,
Don't know if you're still a participant here but obviously this isn't a popular spot for LTHer's. We had 1 night and 2 full days so we were able to sample a few places.
The ferry from Seattle arrives late morning so after checking into the hotel we headed to Chinatown. It's the oldest Chinatown in North American but not nearly the size of San Francisco or Vancouver. Don Mee Seafood Restaurant serves dim sum for lunch and the place was packed with Asians-always a good sign. The carts were rolling and the food was great-rivaling anything we've had in San Francisco. Dessert was bubble tea at the Bubble Tea Place next door.
Little Jumbo serves all small plates and has a nice list of BC wines by the glass. Below is a list of the items we ate. We loved it. What was most impressive is we went late because of the dim sum and even at 9pm there was a half hour wait. When we left at about 11pm, people were still arriving. They are open till 1am.
Duck Fat Frites, orange gremolata, mayonnaise, ketchup
Smoked Sablefish Brandade Croquettes, romesco
Duck Liver Parfait and Foie Gras Torchon with microgreens and grilled bread
Beef, Pork, Duck a combo
Duck Confit, slaw, mustard sauce
Grilled Kale, red wine gastrique
Lunch before the ferry back to Seattle was at Nautical Nellie's. Considering Victoria has an old British feel, I had to have fish and chips, which were perfectly fried crispy and light and pristine local Ling cod . Lana had a great salmon burger, a slab of medium rare salmon with local bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a tasty unidentifiable sauce.
