Have searched the site for Indiana/W. Michigan and really couldn't find recs for breakfast. We'll be leaving the downtown area around 7am and would like to stop after a couple of hours. Anything other than Cracker Barrell out there? Would divert off of 94 for a few miles for a great breakfast. Thanks!

We usually stop at Bells :P in KZ but looks like we'll be leaving town earlier than usual and will need some sustenance before that.

Waffle House of America is your friend. Be sure to stop at the correct one at Exit 52 or you'll be scratching you head wondering why I recommended this place.

Warning: Do not be seduced by the pretty signage for the Faux Waffle House of America at exit 41. You will be disappointed if you fall for that trick. The place I'm talking about is at exit 52. Accept no substitutes.

Somehow I had forgotten the marvelous phrase "oasis of lavatory splendor." I'm going to try to work it into conversation today!

I am hoping (but without too much hope) that they have decided to begin celebrating Xmas before Thanksgiving, er...I mean Halloween.

Thanks for the tip on Waffle House. Unfortunately my hubby had his sights on the Breakfast Sampler at Cracker Barrel and our tummies were ready to eat at Exit 23. While adequate, I think we will hold out for Exit 52 on our next trip.

We did plan our trip back so that we could stop at Bell's Brewery for an early lunch on Sunday. The usually good turkey and cranberry relish sandwhich let hubby down this time. He said that the turkey used to be fresh sliced. This sandwich was made with deli meat. And although my brat with sauerkraut and onions looked good, we just had brats from Ream's last week so I was definitely spoiled and should have gone with something else. Our $2 pints (special that day) of Kalamazoo Stout made up for the less than stellar food.
