I just happened to have one, but it's quite dated, so I have no idea if it's a
good one. My memory is of one of the best BBQ meals ever, but you never know if these things get clouded by other factors. Anyways, I dug this up from Leffistan, it was posted in December 2001, and at that was already I believe two years past:
Willie, you sharing the burgoo, no?
If you ever REALLY want to detour, I have another western Kentucky suggestion. It's called, how's this for a name, "West Kentucky Barbeque". It is in Bowling Green, Kentucky not that far from I-65.
The menu taunts the customer to see their smoker. We did and smelled the price for days. And boy did they put it to good use. We used the vehicle of the 3 meat combo to try tons of stuff including the "west kentucky favorite" mutton. The mutton was, as you described, more interesting than anything. The best meat, however, was the ribs.
Emeril Lagasse has made "layers of flavor" a cliche, but these ribs really did impress through each different bite. I have never had better before or since.
Owensboro gets the pub. for the west kentucky q, but maybe think further south to Bowling Green.
