Not any more, they're not. Sad to say, The Beacon has gone dark.
We ate right next door at The Butterfly, a perfectly fine Greek family-restaurant type place. Clean, and an above-average value, because entrees include a decent salad bar, soup, potato, and dessert. I had the beer-battered perch. No complaints.
Loved the Railway Museum. Actually, the museum itself is not much, but the little park that it's in is the attraction. You walk up a small hill to a sort of gazebo-picnic-table-shelter, where you have a commanding view of the intersecting tracks of two rail lines, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and the Union Pacific. Word is it won't be long before you see a train come through, and this was true--one arrived within ten seconds of our getting there! And then another about ten minutes after that. Both times, we waved to the engineer as the train approached, and both times, the engineer gave two toots on his horn in response. Fun.
Thanks, LikestoEatout.
