I am going to be in the Ludington/Mears,MI area for a couple of days. Any one have any restaurant recommendations? It should be family friendly since I have a 3 and 5 year old. One of the things I want to do is to sample some Palazzolo Gelato on the way to Ludington. We would also like to eat some whitefish and Michigan cherry pie.
We plan to go to House of Flavors Restaurant in Ludington and Jamesport Brewing Company.
Are there any restaurants in beach towns south of Ludington which has good whitefish? We can stop by the restaurant on the way back to home.

At Bortell's, we tried the fried whitefish dinner and the fried lake perch dinner. They were both very good. The smoked fish also looked good, but we did not get a chance to try it.

I am also a fan of House of Flavors. Their turkey dinners are very good- at least the real turkey- the dressing, not so much. It is a bit of a disconnect to have turkey in the summer, when I typically go through Ludington. Their "wedding cake" flavor ice cream is a guiltypleasure of mine. It tastes just like raw white cake mix batter.
Ludington has miles of nice beachfront with great sunset views.
