    Ithaca Bakery, at Rt 13 and Court St., is <the> place to go for breakfast and lunch. Great pastry, sandwiches, coffee, tea, fresh breads, some gourmet foods, salads..not expensive, easy to find, convenient parking -- worth the trip.

    For dinner, try Willow restaurant, at Willow and Tioga streets. Very nice, upscale, small, and really good food. We were there for a New Year's Eve dinner. My husband raved about the osso bucco; I had marlin encrusted with lentils and it was fabulous. They also have a Sunday brunch. Call for reservations.

    Carol;

    Do you (or anyone else) know whether the Holsteiner Delicatessen in the De Witt mall is still open? The gentleman who ran the place many moons ago when I was high above Cayuga's waters for a spell was getting on in years and I'd be surprised if he were still running it day to day, but I hope someone has kept the business alive. A great German deli, along the lines of Meyers in Lincoln Square.

    Alas, I don't recognise the places you mention, though turn-over in the restaurant world and especially in Ithaca has always been high... Or am I just that old... :(

    Antonius, I did some checking with friends in Ithaca, and they are not familiar with the deli. Too bad. Sounds like something Ithaca really needs. They'll be on the lookout for it, though, and I"ll report back if I hear anything.
