    Hi,

I have a friend who regularly drives that route who will love this recommendation.

    Thank you!

    Regards,

Likewise, thanks for the tip. I will be passing thru Lebanon this weekend and next, and try to stop. What's the turn-around time for service? There's a place at the north end of town, Parky's, that does pretty good 'Q. Its a sit down place, and tho the service is reasonably good, the few times I've been there for lunch, the wait has been unusually long.

Just a note on geography, Lebanon is about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis and conveniently located off I-65. So, anyone who regularly travels to Indianapolis, Louisville or beyond on I-65 would necessarily pass by this spot, which I'd guess is maybe 5 minutes off the highway.

K&R has become a stopping point on the route to Indy and Louisville for me. While the BBQ itself is ok, to me the standouts are the fresh cut fries and the hand battered onion rings which are great and worth a stop for by themselves.

I stopped at K & R's on Saturday, just a little after noon hour. A real nice down home place, with a faint hint of smoke i the air. There was no one at the counter, but I could hear voices from a back room. After calling "Hello," a few times, another patron walked to the back, and addressed someone by name. A young lady came out in moments and apologized, saying that she had been washing dishes.

I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. It came in the time it took to make the fries. The other young woman who handed me the order asked if I had gotten my sauce, and I replied that I was just about to put some on. There was a bar with 4 sauces, some wing sauce, and various other condiments. I got a little carried away with the "Very Hot" sauce. Altho not as hot as I like, the flavor overwhelmed that of the pork. The pork was extremely moist, and completely in shreds. I didn't get much bark, and so the smoke and savory flavor was rather mild. There was a trace of cinnamon in the spices. The helping was good, and was boosted by the mass of hot spiced fries and tater chips. I used some of the "Hawaiian sauce" as a dip for the fries. It was a pleasant sweet and sour.

Over all, a bit better than average. I noticed a trace of the flavor still in my mouth a hundred miles down the road, so I was definitely satisfied.

I'd have to say that the pulled pork I had at the other place in town, Parky's Smokehouse, was somewhat better. However, the quick turn-around at K. & R.s has made it my choice for trip food.
