Not seeing a thread dedicated to Dayton or The Pine Club, I thought it OK to post this. I dined at the Pine Club as the guest of a local couple last night and was delighted with the atmosphere of the place, the top-notch and no-nonsense service and the delicious food.
The Pine Club is best equated - in my mind at least - with the best of the Wisconsin supper clubs sans the northwoods. The space is not large but ample, the bar a double-sided horshoe affair and the small cloakroom and rest facilities hearken me back to the boites of my youth where the Davooda parental units would take us once per annum for an "adult meal."
The Pine Room gets its name from the pine walls, ceiling, woodwork and seating. The fare is varied but heavy on reall good steaks, prime rib, and ground-on-the-premises hamburgers. On Mondays and Tuesdays, one may buy five pounds of excess to inventory burger patties for $4 per pound - prime steaks ground for your enjoyment.
Blue-Red salad dressing a piquant flavor...house-made French with blue cheese chunks with mixed greens...bread basket with plentiful "salt sticks" from days gone by - a real throwback with high quality eats.
