We will be in Oconomowoc WI this weekend, anything really special for the ride back--i.e., between Oconomowoc and Milwaukee. From Milwaukee south, I am pretty solid. Perhaps a classic WI supper club.

There's a Kopp's Custard in that neck of the woods, I believe... Brookfield, IIRC

We love Oconomowoc and go there several times a year. My daughters go to summer camp there (as I did a million years ago) and we spend Memorial Day weekend there every other year so my husband can repair the camp guitars. I will be up the weekend of April 8th, but will unfortunately be eating camp food. It's better than it was when I was a camper there, but it's still camp food.

There isn't a lot of fabulous food there, but we usually end up at Spinnaker's for lunch after dropping the girls off. Here is a link to their website:

Also, not to be missed, is the Kiltie Cruise-In. We go for their ice cream treats in the summer. I'm not sure it will be open at this time of year, but it wouldn't be hard to find out. I sport a Kiltie's bumper sticker on my car (they're free!)

They are located on Wisconsin Avenue, past the car dealerships.

I have noticed a Thai restaurant on the main drag, and one place I have always wanted to try is Red & Bunny's Diner, just for the name. It's located at 113 South Main Street.

You will also find the original Catherine Clark's Brownberry Ovens, which started in the back of her house in Oconomowoc. It's now a bakery thrift shop, but it's definitely the most unique bakery thrift shop I've ever seen.

    Have fun!!

I grew up in that area (Watertown, actually), and the place we always used to go for special dinners when I was a kid was The Golden Mast on Okauchee Lake. It's located right on the lake and it has some really nice views. It's also quite expensive & while the food is certainly very good, I'd it's not great in an "I gotta post about this on LTH right away" kind of way. (I have eaten there as recently as a year ago and confirmed this). IMHO for that kind of money you could do much better in Chicago.

A better choice, IMHO, is The Pizza Man in Milwaukee. Great wine selection. Interestingly enough, I do not recommend ordering pizza there (it's mediocre at best) - their ravioli are so much better (last time I was there they had wild boar and duck ravioli and both were excellent). Pizza Man gets very crowded on weekends, and I would definitely suggest you make a reservation.
