Not sure if I need to post this in Swahili or Yiddish, but the Tribune covered the local angle of this important ranking a couple of days ago. See http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/ ... 6145.story

Surprising how some people don't get the obvious: Noma is a Danish restaurant, hence the links to Danish press about the restaurant winning the award a second year in a row.

The Danish article also contains a video in which, rather humorously, the staff from Noma wear plastic Viking helmets. (Hey Josephine -- you still have your helmet? )...

What did I not get? I presume some people would want to know how our local Big Dog fared. One article on the winner. One article on Alinea. What's not to get?

We were in Copenhagen briefly and spontaneously last January; I think Noma is the only reason I'd go back there (that, and the licorice).

My appreciation of Danish food is limited, and my stereotypical impression of traditional fare there is that it breaks down to basically excellent fish and beautifully prepared sandwiches. Noma breaks that stereotype.

Congratulations to Eleven Madison Park as well in NYC which moved from #50 to #24 on the list.

I just don't understand why Le Bernardin gets rated so high on this list. I know 3 groups of people (including me and my wife) who weren't particularly impressed with our meals there. Granted I've only been to Le Bernardin and L2O once each, but I was much more impressed with L2O.

Time has an article about this. The most interesting part was that the "jurors" don't even have to prove they even ate at a restaurant they are voting for.
