Late invite to Chestnut mountain near Galena Tuesday. We will be driving home around supper time, heading back to western suburbs. We can return either via I88 and Route 52 or Route 20 and I90. Any interesting spot for dinner? All types of food are ok, just cant be that fancy as we will be in jeans. Sorry about last minute request.

    thanks all

If it were me, I'd be stopping in La Salle County at one of the great fried chicken spots like GNR Rip's Tavern (or any of several others mentioned by jimswside)

You'd almost be home, but the Westmont location of Katy's Dumplings is right off of I-88. Sip N Sack, which has been mentioned by jimswide, isn't too far off of I-88. (stevez = Rip's looks to be closer to I-80.)

    And worth the detour.

Jameson's in Huntley is a possibility. If you are up for stopping in Freeport, IL. I'm a fan of Cannova's-I love the house salad and their homemade dressing. Pasta usually does not disappoint and I love the pizza. We stop frequently in Rockford at the Stockholm Inn. It's not fine dining, but you can't go wrong with price or quality here.
