Princeton is a nice little town. It has a number of nice antique shops, Hoffman's Patterns of the Past for ANY odd piece of china that you're missing, and a theater festival!

They also have Myrtle's Cafe & Pie, a little cafe right on Rte 34 in the heart of the Art District. The cafe features soups, sandwiches, homemade quiche, and homemade pies. The pies are made by the owner, David, from scratch. Today the choices ranged from french silk, chocolate cream, coconut cream, chocolate peanut butter, strawberry cheesecake, rhubarb, cherry rhubarb, to chocolate pecan. Pies can be ordered, or bought whole for around $15. A slice of pie is about $3.

Myrtle's (named for Grandma) is delightful. David is super friendly. The salads are HUGE and are served in a mixed bag of Pyrex mixing bowls. Today's special was strawberry with chicken, blue cheese, greens, and candied pecans. Everyone seemed to like it. I had a bowl of soup to save room for the pie. The chocolate cream was like I'd made it myself -- and I make a mean chocolate cream pie, if I do say so myself!

So if you're in Princeton, stop in for a slice of home-made pie, at the very least! You'll be glad you did.

Thank you for this! I'm in Princeton from time to time and in need of good eats. I'll check it out!
