We have a soft spot for Holland and it is always a pleasure to visit, which I do at least a couple times a year. Have friends who rave about Butch's, but somehow never made it, until two weeks ago. Our friends enjoy chatting with Butch about wine. Butch was not in the house the evening of our visit, but his daughter, MacKenzie, took great care of us and offered insightful comments on many of the dishes.
Had and excellent dinner at Butch's two weeks ago and all five of us loved our dishes. I could eat the fabulous minted spring vegetables that accompanied the lamb sirloin every day, and I am not a fan of mint dishes.
We try to support restaurants who source from small family farms and nice to see Butch's take advantage of the great local produce and meats. Another perk for wine lovers, especially since MI does not allow BYO, is Butch's policy to add $10 to the price of wines that he sells at retail from racks in the dining room. While my palate may not completely align with many his selections, I did find several thoughtful options that were a good value.
Looking forward to returning on our next visit to Holland.
