I sell pizza equipment for a living, but I don't know who owns this place but it's good eating. Everything made from scratch every morning. That in it self is a lost art in the pizza business.

My mom actually lives (and owns a baking compny located on her farm) 5 minuets from Side Street. While it's pizza doesn't compete, in my mind, with some of the other spots I have lived (New Haven, Boston, Chicago) it's a good spot to have in Tryon. What is really too bad is that any ethnic food spot that makes a go of it in Tryon rarely makes it past a year. I keep thinking each time a new place goes in that there may, at last, be enought yankee transplants to keep it going but, alas, it never seems to be the case.

Anyhow, Side Street doesn't really conform to any "major" pizza style. If anything I would say it is well prepared greek. Medium thickness crust, lots of cheese, and ample toppings. They also do the red sauce pasta thing pretty well. I've had good chicken parm and lazagnia there.

It's just such a small town. Side Street has just managed to make a name for it self
