My father has recently gotten himself into cooking after avoiding the kitchen for some 50 odd years.

The poor man, dont ask me why, has just never eaten meat/fish. So, I was hoping to get him into a Vegetarian cooking class to help him out and secure my way into having the best xmas gift to offer.

I noticed that the Chopping Block has a couple few vegetarian classes, but the program as a whole seems to have a somewhat mixed reviews.

has anyone taken the vegetarian class at chopping block? Also, do you know of any other different places that might offer something that my dad would like to attend?

    Any info is appreciated -

    thanks in advance guys

Two thoughts would be Ba-Ba-Reeba on Halsted and La Piazza in Forest Park, but their vegetarian cooking classes only come once or twice a year. Other times, you can specify that you're a veg, and could potentially be given a separate work surface and ingredients (the International Kitchen did this for clients of mine in my previous work life).

Totally conjecture here, but if your father is just getting into the kitchen, maybe a Chopping Block vegetarian class would be a good introduction. I don't have personal experience with the Chopping Block. There is a poster, Shoba, who offers Indian cooking classes. She may do vegetarian classes, which might be an option. Otherwise, the Tribune always does a list of cooking schools and classes -- maybe you'll find something here.
