For some reason, I can't find Honeycup mustard in Chicago anymore. It's the perfect combination of tang/spice with a little sweet. Has anyone seen it around (it comes in an octagonal jar)?

I recall seeing it at Treasure Island in Wilmette, but that was at least a year ago. You might give TI a call-- in case you are not aware, they also have at least one location in the city if that is closer for you. Treasure Island really is a wonderful, quirky place where they have a surprisingly large assortment of specialty items. They have things like canned peas from England. (Why would anyone ever buy them except a really homesick English undergrad?) They also have some brands that aren't "authentic" enough to find in markets that cater to specific ethnic groups, and aren't chi-chi enough to appear at Fox & Obel.

It seems to come and go. Just when I despair of ever seeing it again, it's on shelves again.

I too, am in love with the Honeycup -specifically the one with the red lid, I think it's horseradish. I find it at Jewel, and if I see it at Strack and VanTil or Dominick's tonight I'll repost and let you know.

Hyde Park Co-op still has it, and if you go down there, try a Hans's Favorite at the University Market (57th and Kenwood), which is a croissant with Westphalian ham and cheddar or swiss and a liberal slather of Honeycup.

The Jewel Oak Park Market on Washington and East Blvd in Oak Park also has it.

The University Market also sells jars of Honeycup. I love that stuff. I like Han's favorite on a baguette instead of the croissant. Yum!

For future reference, this product and a stone-ground variety are available, as well, at Zier's in Wilmette.
