I'm not sure how far I wish to pursue this experiment, but while cleaning out the fridge tonight, I was particularly apprehensive about a partially used quart of Imagine organic chicken broth that I presume has been around since Thanksgiving or Christmas. ("After opening, use within seven days.")

Just to teach myself a lesson, I popped the top and gave it a sniff. No off odor whatever.

Now, perhaps it has turned into weird curds lurking below an innocent-seeming liquid phase (I haven't cut the top off yet), but I was curious whether this was a common phenomenon. Is it a miracle, or a biological weapon?

    Pitch it.
Broth is an ideal medium for microbial growth and just because no odor is evident, doesn't mean the broth isn't full of bacteria. Further, it is an opened (for a long time now) package.
