I haven't tried it as yet, but Caputo's down the street from you on Harlem in Elmwood Park sells fresh Pizza dough in the Deli. Pizza Dough is also available at Caputo Cheese Market on 15th in Melrose.

    Ps:
Wow if you consider the Harlem Irving area a "wasteland" food wise, you need to get out more. I can't think of anything you can't find within a 2 mile radius.

Those are some great tips for places to buy your own dough. Following up on some of the suggestions to make-your-own:

    1. If you make ahead and freeze, put the dough in a gallon freezer bag and squash it out into a flat rectangle-- that way it defrosts much faster than a ball of dough.

    2. There have been a couple of recent bread fads (ie "artisan bread in 5 minutes with Zoe Francis) where you make a big batch of dough, then leave it in the fridge. I've read that these also make good pizza dough.

    3. If you have a bread machine, this is a great use for it.

    Good luck!
    Best, Jen
