For Filipino food, my vote is for
Little Quiapo simply for the variety of food they offer (and it's pretty dang good too). And the place is always packed to the gills with regulars, so they must be doing something right. As this is primarily a buffet, I'd give them a call to make sure they have carryout covered.
To get on your Filipino guests good sides, I'd suggest a stew (
kaldareta /
mechado - beef & potatoes in tomato sauce,
kare-kare - oxtail in peanut sauce), an oily dish (
lechon - see above, l
umpiang shanghai - mini pork eggrolls), and plenty of white rice.
Of course the last time I went to a largely Filipino / Mexican party to watch Pacquiao / Morales, our hosts went the neutral route and got Korean. Haha
