The horror of ham gone wrong

It is to be hoped that you'll never have to see anything like this live, so, for those of you brave enough to scroll down, I'm posting a graphic photo for your edification.

For the LTHForum 1,000-Recipe Potluck, I at first planned to prepare a well-aged country ham I had acquired some years ago on a trip to Kentucky. Unfortunately, that ham turned out not to have aged so well after all.

It looked fine on the outside:


Unfortunately, on the inside, instead of looking like this:
