Hi, does anyone know of a local source for Monin syrups (my fave brand thus far)? I really want to start making flavored lattes at home and would love to get my hands on a bottle of caramel or vanilla. So far I've tried World Market (they had the other popular brand, forgot the name...but no Monin) and L'Appetito on N. Mich-- they use the Monin syrups in their lattes but unfortunately don't sell them in their grocery portion of the store. I assume they order theirs in bulk through the mail. I'd rather just buy a bottle from a local store than online. If anyone has seen these for sale anywhere, I'd appreciate a heads up. Or, if you have another brand to suggest, I'm all eyes. :D Thanks!

I don't have any suggestions, but it seems like these would be fairly easy to make at home. Boiling water and sugar makes a basic syrup. You can then add vanilla extract, for example, to make a vanilla syrup.

Suppose I could try making my own syrup at home, but every sort of "gourmet" or specialty-type item I've ever tried making at home have turned out to be disappointments/disasters/unable to measure up to whatever store-bought food item being imitated. Sooo...I just figured it's easier and inexpensive enough to just buy it, esp. since I love the brand. I dunno. I might just end up ordering it from their website, but the shipping costs almost nearly the same as the bottle of syrup. Oh well.

Google "buy Monin syrups" and you'll get a zillion hits. Even
    Amazon...

The FAQ at the Monin website suggests that you contact them to find a local distributor. I haven't been looking, but a lot of Mom & Pop coffeeshops use and carry them.

I haven't bought them in years (like, 9 years), but I used to purchase them over the counter at Starbucks in Downers Grove. They'd even give me the pump dispenser.

:D Yup, that would be about when Starbucks stopped using Monin and Ghiradelli and switched to their own (IMHO inferior) house-brand.

whoops, I need to read the thread more carefully, obviously! I guess I think of Cost Plus World Market as "Cost Plus" whereas the OP and Geo referred to it as "World Market", which just didn't register in my brain... sorry for this interruption...

I usually buy Da Vinci syrup. I have found them at a variety of place but I have gotten a lot of mine in the food area of TJ Maxx.
