Does anyone know where I can buy pumpkin seed oil in Chicago (or close suburbs)? I have tried Fox and Obel and Whole Foods without any luck... any help is greatly appreciated!

Culinary? Or as a nutritional supplement? If you're looking for supplements, General Nutrition Center carries pumpkin seed oil. For culinary, I'm afraid I don't know where to buy it in town -- though I know La Tourangelle makes toasted pumpkin seed oil (beautiful stuff, too) -- and I'd think that any store that carries other La Tourangelle oils (and that's a lot of stores -- not just Fox & Obel, as I've seen it at Jewel) would be able to special order the pumpkin seed oil for you.

    Otherwise, there's always mail order:

I was at Sam's Liquors in Highland Park yesterday, and I noticed that they had pumpkin seed oil among the many fancy oils (including a truffle oil spritzer-- next paycheck) in their deli area. If they have it at one Sam's, they might have it at others.

    Hi,

I just received a bottle from my niece who recently returned from Austria. From looking around, I would inquire at grocery shops catering to German, Croatian, Hungarian or European populations. Wikipedia had local names for this product in several countries which might help with a phone inquiry.

Once you get it, what do you intend to do with it? I hadn't given any thought yet on how to use, so any information is appreciated.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    thanks for the suggestions!

I was in Austria last month, and feel in love with pumpkin seed oil on salads. It is very common... a lot of places used that as dressing. However, my favorite was the oil, balsamic vinegar, a little mustard and a small amount of sugar as a dressing. It is fantastic!

Whole Foods in Northbrook carries pumpkinseed oil, I saw it when I was there last night. It's got an Italian label and is shelved with the nut and seed oils, not with the imported olive oils. It's a bigger WF than most others so I don't know if it would be limited to just that store.

I have a bottle I bought some time ago. I can't remember where, but I suspect it might have been Williams Sonoma.

    Hi,

I saw pumpkin seed oil at the Dominick's at Canal and Roosevelt. Look for it on aisle 12 on the west stack, it is on the top shelf with other unique oils. Priced at $18.65 for an 8.45 ounce bottle, which prompted a call to my niece. She paid around $7 for a similar bottle in Austria.

    I haven't tried mine yet.
