I heard that the original Twinkie recipe that uses banana cream rather than the standard vanilla cream is back out on the market.

I've searched in several grocery stores, but have been unable to locate them.

Has anybody run across these and if so were they any good?

I realize "good" is a relative term especially when it comes to junk food, but for those who enjoy a little cream-filled golden sponge cake now and then I'd love to know your verdict on these.

I haven't looked for them lately but I believe Hostess (IBC) made them a permanent item instead of just a limited time offering.

If you like Twinkies, you'll probably enjoy them. They have a mild banana flavor which reminds me of banana bread.

Thanks for the info and review Fujisan!

Is there any particular store I should be looking in?

Found 'em! At the Jewel in Four Flags at Milwaukee and Golf.

Twinkies are drier than I remember- I assume they used to have trans fat in them, and that's probably what's causing that??

The flavor wasn't bad. Not something I'll crave after they're gone, but enjoyable enough before we finish the box.

Slightly off topic: is there such a thing as banana-filled Oreos?
