While heading home from the Superdawg yesterday, we drove past Eisenberg Gourmet Hot Dogs on Elston.

Anyone familiar with these hot dogs? I've never seen them around town

I think I've seen them once or twice in midwest (but outside chicago) grocery stores. I think I may have even once bought a package of their natural casing hot dogs (lamb casing) which were fine, but nothing special.

For what it's worth, one of the Vienna Beef owners is an Eisenberg. Somehow I bet they're related...

edit: a little more research shows they're partnered with kelly corned beef co. http://www.kellyeisenberg.com for an incredibly useless website.

Kelly-Eisenberg meats have come up here, or on Chowhound, before on a few occasions. I know the guy at Eppy's Deli in Streeterville uses their corned beef and pastrami. It's okay.

I think I remember Jakes in Milwaukee saying that they use Kelly-Eisenberg for their corned beef and brisket. I could be 100% wrong on this, but somehow that fact seemed to pop into my head and won't go away.

I've never had an Eisenberg dog, to my knowledge, but I have had their meats at Eppy's and once I saw them at Jewel on Howard.

The only word I can think of to describe their corned beef and pastrami is "bland". It tastes like Vienna Lite.

Onion Roll in Oak Park used Eisenberg corned beef and pastrami.

I'm almost sure you're right. That was the other mention I was trying to place.

Yep, at least according to G Wiv. And Cathy2 reports that it's also used at Burt's Deli in Libertyville.

I had an Eisenberg Sausage at a C Store in Iowa once. For a C-Store sausage, it was pretty good. I've never seen them sold in Chicago.
