Bobak's is the best I know of.
Old fashioned pickel and herring barrels also.-Dick

May not be a good location for you but, Gene's in Chicago

5300 block of Belmont Ave. Closest major cross street is Central.

Very good deli section, and impressive collection of Polish and Eastern European spirits.
Also in the area are several more delis. None that I can recall the name of right off hand.
If it's not moving it must be food

    Hi,

This thread has a number of Polish delis with many of the Ma and Pa variety.

    Regards,

I like Joe & Frank's better than Bobak's. J&F is at Archer and Harlem and 87th and Ridgeland. Huge Deli operation, must be 20-15 ladies back there slicing. Their smoked Polish sausage is better than Bobak's too. Lot's of imported Polish canned goods, have no idea what most of it is. Added benefit is the Archer store is just a few doors from Weber's bakery.

I too like the products at Joe and Frank's. I stop there on the evenings when I didn't have time to make home made soup and pick up a quart of theirs to bring home with me.The one on Archer and Harlem seems to be bigger than the one on Ridgeland Ave in Oak Lawn. If you go to the one on Archer stop into Weber's for some sauerkraut rye.

I generally go to Gilmart, unless I'm picking up white sausages, in which case I go a little up the street to Dunajec. Bobak's is okay, but I like the sausages and pickles better at Gilmart. Plus I definitely second the recommendation of Joe & Frank's.
