After noting that everyone from
Hot Doug to
JeffB occasionally uses a George Foreman or Cuisinart Grill / sandwich press, I dove in. Prices are way down this year, and technology is improving, with removable dishwasher-safe plates of the ridged and flat variety, and consistently better reviews. With new family responsibilities, I'm designing a menu of things I can cook very quickly after work, and also things I can prepare beforehand and leave instructions for easy grill/press heating. By no means setting aside my cherished cast-iron and Calphalon, I'm just adding some electric power to a different area of the countertop.
I've already had success with Paramount-ish spice-laced burgers (with a nice high fat ground beef) and Cuban sandwiches. What recipes do you like on the Foreman Grill and its ilk? My hope is that this record may also help those unwillingly gifted with such a device for the holidays, and desirous of making use of it for a few weeks or months before retiring it to the top shelf of a cabinet. 'Tis the season.
