I'm not sure how recent of a trend this is, but just over the weekend I noticed three different grocery stores selling fresh made potato chips in the deli section. While I did not try them, Michaels in Naperville allows you to specify the finished flavor. The ones I tried were from Inboden's Meat Market in Dekalb and were quite good; thick cut and tannish brown, definitely not golden they were well salted and tasted of potato and fresh oil. The other place I spotted fresh fried chips was at Schnucks grocery store in Dekalb, which is a grocery chain out of St. Louis.
Has anyone else noticed fresh fried chips at grocery store deli counters or have any favorites to recommend?
