We do not have upper kitchen cabs.
We want to install open shelving over the counter. (Preferably "floating" style.)
We want the shelves to have under lighting (like under-cabinet lighting) to improve the lighting situation at the countertops.

Has anyone encountered a shelf product in which the shelf you buy is already fitted with a light so that you can install it all integrated at once, as opposed to buying a shelf, buying a light, having the shelf drilled or wired to accomodate the light, etc.?
So far looking at the major home stores and talking to Crest Lighting, I've not found what I"m after, which seems like not such an exotic thing to want.

The difficulty (at least it's a difficulty for a non-DIY'er NY Jew), is that not only do I seem to need to buy a shelf and a light and marry them, I also need to buy some trim and put that on the shelf to hide the light, since all the shelves I see are just flat.
"Strange how potent cheap music is."

assuming a limited single shelf run with a counter outlet readily available and no desire to aesthetically match existing cabinetry or decor, prefinished shelf panels are handily available. a simple valance of 1" x 2" mdf stock at or near the leading edge of the shelf, attached with a construction grade adhesive for (purpose of) concealment of a plug- in compact flourescent strip light attached to the underside of the shelf... would be only slightly harder to fabricate than thisreply.

all is readily avaible at your local home center - building supply store. your greatest chore would be in installing the shelf.

ahh, but to answer your specific query.... based on my years in the building trades, i do not believe such a 'out of the box' product exists.
