I know, it sounds gimicky. I was, however, intrigued enough to purchase this new item at Trader Joe's and I LOVE it. The ingredients listed are: cashews, lemon grass, lime leaves, sugar, onions, garlic, lemon juice, red pepper and fish sauce. Each chewy crisp bite offers a great compilation of flavors - very reminiscent of Miang Khum.

Right with you, Jyoti, and I like the packaging and pricepoint as well. Extremely satisfying with a more complex sweetness and texture than their chili-lime cashews (to which I'm also addicted).

I like the sweet and spicy pecans at TJs, though I will certainly try the tom yum cashews, they sound great.

The pecans are an admittedly weak substitute for the first spicy pecans I ever had, at a conference in Nashville several years ago, the hotel casually put out a tray of pecans after lunch-- seemed like they were candied with carmelized sugar and perhaps cayenne, not sticky and not too sweet, and just incredible, I made a total pig of myself and may even have stolen a cup or a napkin so that I could take some in my purse (can't recall exactly, but there was something scandalous about my behavior-- maybe the pecans were for the next conference over and I wasn't supposed to be taking them at all?? but the quality of the pecans was such that I totally lost control). I've never tried to make them at home, because, despite what someone says in the thread about mortal enemies, there are some things that you cannot control, and it is bad enough that I know how to make chex mix (homemade obviously bearing little resemblance to the stuff you buy in bags).

Ooh, thanks for the heads up on these! I'm another big fan of TJ's chili-lime cashews, so I'll make it a point to give these a shot next time I'm there.
