Mitsuwa in Arlington Heights has a special food fair that ends today. It started on Thursday, but I didn't know about it until today.

If you are a fan of takoyaki (grilled octopus balls), you might want to see Kukuru Takoyaki in action, voted the #1 takoyaki restaurant in Japan. Unlike most street fair takoyaki, they are deliciously fluffy and the octopus is cooked just right (not too rubbery).

To see a video of takoyaki being made:

    What is takoyaki?

    Enjoy!

That's why you have to just keep checking LTHForum all the time. Because info on the fair at Mitsuwa was posted in late May.

Oops, I did run one quick search, but it didn't come up for some reason. [Figured it out -- I ran the search under Culinary Chat instead of Social Life]

    Sorry about the repeat post!

Pre-packed for the rush and sitting under a heat lamp in a box. $7 out the door. Placed in a box then in a paper bag, which was a little bit wasteful in packaging (but not unusual for anyone used to purchasing things in Japan).

They WERE making them real time, but unfortunately the ones being sold were the pre-pack. Doesn't quite compare to the "just out of the tako-yaki maker" from a department store basement in Tokyo, but I suppose the volume and turnover is higher.

Tasted fine, but the wife was expecting a more crispy exterior (a la Tokyo trend).
