Hi tech charcoal

I have been using a new kind of charcoal that comes in a block. It is self-lighting without the fuel oil. The brand is Johnson & Lou and used to be available at True Value hardware. It seems that they have dropped the product. Does anyone know where to purchase this item locally? They are the best thing for tailgating or a fast grill setup. They are quick lighting and burn for 90 minutes per brick.

May well be cheaper and more efficient in the long haul, but at their recommendation of 3 of these for a large grill, that's about $7.50. Ouch.

OK all, I know they can be bought on-line but the stores like True Value sold them for $1.49 ea with no S&H. So once again, has anyone seen these on a shelf???

Tried that about 6 times! I get the impression that they don't respond to you unless you want to buy a truck-load. Or maybe they are like that webio guy and use the business as a scam! "Johnson and Lou", It's a weird name but a great product. I keep a few in my trunk with a portable grill. You can't do that with a regular bag of charcoal; it would turn to dust in a couple of weeks (trust me on that)... And you don't need a chimney or fluid to light the suckers!

Too bad that they don't do a good job of marketing the product. SOoooo... Anyway!

EVERYBODY! IF you spot the stuff in a store, drop a note here, and you might try a couple of blocks yourself, you might be surprised.
