I was at Maxwell Market last Sunday and purchased two products from a cheese vendor:

The first was a fresh cheese similar in texture to a ricotta, but somewhat creamier. The cheese rounds were cradled in dried corn husks. Absolutely delicious!

The second product was creamy yellow with a cheesy taste and looked just like clotted cream.

Unfortunately, the vendor spoke no English, and nobody passing by was able to assist with translations.
Of course, I did not have my camera with me.

I enjoyed both items very, very much and would love to know what I ate. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a guide to Mexican cheeses that might be helpful. From it's description and yours, sounds like the first one is Requesón. Not sure about the second one.

More importantly, how was Maxwell Street Market? I've been meaning to get there for quite some time, but this summer is getting away from me - reports earlier this year were alarming.

Viewsaskew and I were there last weekend and I thought it was significantly smaller than in the past. The tamale place was there in full swing and they were delicious. I didn't see a few of the other places we hit when Hammond gave his Maxwell Street tour. Now, that's not to say they weren't there though...I could have had my eyes closed as we walked by. I would have liked to pick up a few things from the spice lady, but we didn't see her.

I missed the cheese guy! Where was he located?

Thanks for the link Michele - the cheese in the corn husk definitely sounds like Requesón. The second, I could not place.

The market seemed to have fewer food stalls which is sad. Additionally, because of the changed layout, I had a hard time locating things - hard to tell if stalls just weren't there, or I couldn't find them.
