FYI - Central Market is HEB's (truly awesome) Whole Foods competitor brand. The Central Market I went to in Austin was just a fantastic store, with a diverse selection and pretty sane prices.

So for sure make a trip, even if you don't need to get your goose from them.

I've not been to the one in San Antonio, but the Central Market in Houston is a terrific grocery store.

I called the Central Market meat dept. today to check on price -- quoted $4.99/lb. and the birds are 9 to 10 lbs. average. And as gleam/Ed mentioned, it's a fantastic store. Worth the trip, goose or no goose.

There's another meat market just up the road from CM -- called Cooper's -- but I'm not sure if they carry goose.

Will you have a car? If so, no need to buy a goose, just floor it and peg one.
