I'm looking for a good Peppermint Bark to purchase as a gift. Does anyone know of a local store that sells a good version?

I've tasted Williams-Sonoma's version and I like it quite a bit.

You're pretty close to Glenview, so you could try Chocolate Potpourri.

Not bark but perhaps a loosely related treat--Terry's Toffee makes locally a really yummy peppermint-pistachio toffee.

If you are looking for someone who makes peppermint bark locally, that's a different answer. I believe I saw some at Bittersweet. I'm thinking the folks at Sweet Collective might also make it, but call first.

Bleeding Heart usually has various barks - I would assume they have some seasonal ones like peppermint.

Another locally-made option is the Old Town location of Delightful Pastries. They have a few barks. I haven't been back since opening week, and I don't know if they're doing any peppermint/holiday types.

I just noticed an ad from yesterday's Tribune for Fannie May The Peppermint Bark looks pretty tasty and comes in a reusable tin. I'm not sure, but the Golf & Milwaukee location might be closest to you.

If you're ordering online, the code for $10 off and free shipping is 10566 (not to be combined with other offers, yadda yadda).

Williams Sonoma has it and I may have seen it in the prior years at Bloomingdale Home in cute packaging.

Oh man, I turned the Lincoln Park (Clybourn) Trader Joe's upside-down, and asked a few different people about those chocolates...they all either shrugged or said "oh yeah, those WERE awesome". I had to buy a box of pfeffernüsse to make myself feel better. If anyone spots those awesome chocolates, please do tell!

Sorry to sidetrack - I saw peppermint bark on one of the shelves above the freezer cases at the Lincoln Park Trader Joe's.

I haven't tried it, but my mom called today to tell me that someone just gave her a big box of peppermint bark from Long Grove Confectionery. They have it in both dark and milk chocolate. Mom loved it.

It's in their catalog, but I'd imagine it would be at one of their locations (though the BG store is a factory outlet, so prices are lower, but they don't have the gift boxes and such):

    LONG GROVE, IL
    220 Robert Parker Coffin Rd.
    Long Grove, IL 60047
    847.634.0080
    Store Hours: Mon - Sat - 9:30 - 5:00 and Sun - 10:00 - 5:00

    BUFFALO GROVE, IL
    Factory Store
    333 Lexington Dr.
    Buffalo Grove, IL 60089
    847.459.0269
    Store Hours: Mon - Sat - 9:30 - 5:00 and Sun 11:00 - 4:00

You might want to check if Foodstuffs has any. Most of their confections are pretty good.

I was at Cost Plus World Market in Evanston yesterday and they have it in a nice tin for a reasonable price.
