    I've never tasted the stuff and can't really imagine it's "all that" but have a friend who is a little scary with how much he loves this creme. I'm sure there are much BETTER types of creme fillings but if anyone happens to have a recipe that would be close, I'd love to have it, or be sent to a place to find it. Not much luck googling.

    The Entenmann's website doesn't list any ingredients, just the nutrition label. It might be possible to reverse-engineer it if I had that info.

    I would try making a standard pastry cream, but use imitation vanilla; it has a different flavor that some people prefer.

    I haven't had one of those in 20-25 years, but back then the crumb cake was filled with something in the style of sweetened whipped cream. Of course it had to be shelf stable, so it was a relative of what you might find inside a Twinkie.
