So I'm leaving my place in Pilsen for one of the new places near Haslted & Division. Good move? Bad move? I don't know. The apartment had everything we wanted and is in a convenient spot for us.

Sadly, I'm leaving Pete's Fresh Market behind. The produce is great and the meat isn't half bad either. I know there is Stanley's just north on Elston. Are there any other nearby places to frequent? The Randolph St. butchers can be good, but keep funky hours. Whole Foods nearby is nice, but expensive for most produce & meat.

There's a Trader Joe's on Clybourn and two Treasure Islands nearby.
When I grow up, I'm going to Bovine University!

I'm not that far from there (North&Sedgewick area). Now that the fun of the monster Whole Foods has worn off, I find myself going to Treasure Island rather often. They usually have a very good produce selection with items I don't find elsewhere (good bibb lettuce for example) - acceptable meat for when I'm not getting to a butcher - and a decent amount of interesting products. Better yet, they deliver.

The big Dominicks on Division delivers as well - and I occasionally run in to stock up on paper and cleaning products but nothing else.

Sorry, I have no specific locations, but if heading straight west past Western is not a pain, I'd imagine you'd find plenty of smaller spots and a sprinkling of larger ones that could hold a candle to Pete's Fresh. If North Avenue and 3800 west is not too bad, then you have a Jimenez / Pulaski Fresh Market I think. 4 blocks west of that is a full on Jimenez. I would think tho, that there's a decent sized MExican tinged market straight west of you somewhere when you start getting near the Humboldty area if nothing else. If you have a car, it's not a big deal of a drive at all.

You might be thinking of Cermak Produce on North just before you get to the park. All around excellent store, I'm a regular customer. I think if you spend more than $50, they'll give you a ride home.

Thanks for all of the tips. We have one car, so going some distance isn't a problem. I just can't bear going back to Jewel/Dominick's after discovering better places.

We live near Halsted and Armitage. We jump on the expressway off rush hour and do a quick Niles tour of Fresh Farms, maybe H-Mart, Costco, and also fill up on gas. The savings on gas and bottled water alone more than pay for the trip.
Coming to you from Leiper's Fork, TN where we prefer forking to spooning.

TI is definitely your new way to go for all-purpose shopping. Also, if you are a lamb/veal fan, they routinely carry a great selection, as well as Bell & Evans chicken, grass-fed beef, and bison. Fresh squeezed OJ, too. :)

I wasn't, but EXCELLENT call. If I was in the area, I'd be a regular customer as well. I used to frequent one. Not familiar with that particular one, but if the OP liked Pete's Fresh, Cermak Produce (while normally smaller except for the newish one on S Cicero) is definitely along the same lines, and closer than the Jimenez and the Pulaski Mkt I was referring to.
